Reply to MACA part 4
“EJC, as the lead organization promoting the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which is aimed at destroying Israel through economic means, advocated for a student BDS referendum. In support of such referendum, EJC drafted a 56-page memorandum (BDS Memo) filled with lies and distortions of history and facts intended to demonize and delegitimize Jews/Israel and foment hate against them. [9]
It is the same false narrative being propagated by Hamas, Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), American Muslims for Palestine (AMP), Within Our Lifetime (WOL), Muslim American Society (MAS), Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and others, to further their radical ideology including the annihilation of all Jews and the State of Israel.”
None of this changes the fact that EJC has the absolute right to publish whatever documents it wishes. The open letter neither quotes the document nor engages with its political content. This is not a crude joke scrawled on a bathroom stall; it is a well-researched and thoughtfully argued political document that should be upheld as an example of the kind of scholars Rutgers produces! As Zionism increasingly struggles in the public debate, its proponents are resorting to calls for suppression rather than engaging with opposing viewpoints. Instead of attempting to silence an organization, they should address the content of the document directly.
Reminder that 80% of students voted yes in the referendum! Don’t be like MACA, read the memo!
“Every page is a sham of distortions and revisionism requiring Rutgers’ students to reach the only possible conclusion one can make: Israel’s existence is an illegal manifestation of occupation, settlement, genocide, ethnic cleansing, colonialism, and apartheid, all crimes perpetrated by Jews against Arabs for 75 years.”
